For PayPal, old partners were becoming new competition—and as more online marketplaces created their own payment processing services, more market share was getting stolen away from PayPal.
That left us to answer the question: How can we get online sellers to see PayPal as not just a way for customers to pay, but a trusted partner that can help their businesses with loans, credit card rewards, invoicing products, and more?
So we took the thing PayPal is the most recognized for: the button. And with that small, little button, created a great, big, whimsical world that's brimming with possibilities for our merchants' businesses—creating everything from videos and social content to banner ads, emails, and assets for PayPal's website.
Just two months after launch, the Snowball campaign exceeded its whole year revenue target for 2019—bringing in $1M in new merchant revenue, $760K in new consumer revenue, and 138K incremental merchant activities and actions.
